The satanic bible - Anton LaVey
LaVey's Satanism or Laveyan Satanism is a vision of the world and of life, officially practiced by the Church of Satan.
Its theorist and founder was Anton Szandor LaVey, an American esotericist, writer and musician, who for a period also worked as a photographer of the scientific police, founder of the religious organization called the Church of Satan.
In 1960 LaVey met the same age filmmaker Kenneth Anger - interested in making a film about Satanism - and together they founded an occult club called "Magic circle". It will be the first step towards the establishment of the Church of satan, founded during the night of Valpurga, April 30, 1966. The general curiosity made the "church" immediately welcome many followers, especially in the world of cinema and entertainment, or trendy intellectuals of the time, always looking for news and free advertising. The public opinion did not negatively judge the belonging of some Hollywood stars and rock music to the LaVey congregation, considering it one of the many eccentricities of the artists.
The Satanic Bible is a real milestone for the development of our imaginary: just think that - inside or outside the text - the connections with pop culture are wasted, from the cinematography of Hollywood film director Kenneth Anger to the myths of Cthulhu of Lovecraft, from the misdeeds of Charles Manson to the birth of the nu-metal musical avant-gardes.
Like many Satanists, Anton LaVey denied the existence of Satan. For example, Ozzy Osbourne, known for having glorified the devil musically, has often denied being a devotee of the Devil. Certainly, Marilyn Manson, ordained priest by the Church of Satan of LaVey, will admit the satanic cult ... Not at all! Manson states: "Satanism does not consist in ritual sacrifices, in the desecration of tombs or in the worship of the devil. The devil does not exist. Satanism is the adoration of oneself, because everyone is responsible for his own good and his own evil ".
The Satanic Bible underwent a strong philosophical influence on the part of many writers, especially Ayn Rand (real name Alissa Zinovievna Rosenbaum; 1905-1982), Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) and Aleister Crowley.
When someone coined the saying "dynamite enters small packages," he created the most accurate description of Anton LaVey, a short man. In a personal letter, wrote Anton LaVey: "With my swastika I am strong. My satanic amulets give me power. I'm no longer a misfit, with boils, the breath to the heart and flat feet ».
The Church of Satan has been officially recognized by the US government and the army. He transformed an old Victorian house, at 6114 of California Street, into what was later called The Black House ("the Black House").
